Dr Rose Ndumia (MBChB, MMed)

Dr Rose Ndumia is currently an Assistant Professor, Section Head of Breast Imaging, Programme Director & Vice-Chair, Department of Radiology, Aga Khan University Medical College, East Africa.
She received her medical degree from the University of Nairobi in 2005 and her residency in Radiology from the Aga Khan University, Nairobi. In 2017, she completed a one year fellowship in diagnostic and interventional breast imaging from the Marleen Greenebaum Diagnostic Breast Centre, Hadassah University Hospital in Jerusalem, Israel with observership experience at the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Centre’s Breast Imaging Center in New York.
Dr Ndumia started and heads the breast imaging section at Aga Khan University Hospital, Nairobi (AKUHN) and is actively involved in the acquisition of state-of-the art imaging equipment and initiation of new procedures such as Digital Mammography with 3D Tomosynthesis, Stereotactic Biopsies, Vacuum Assisted Biopsy (VAB) and Occult Lesion Localizations and takes the Radiology lead in the weekly multidisciplinary breast tumour board meetings.
She is a member of various professional associations such as the Kenya Association of Radiologists (KAR), Kenya Society of Ultrasound in Medicine and Biology and RAD-AID International.
Dr Ndumia’s area of interests include breast imaging and interventional procedures, breast cancer screening guidelines, prevention and early detection and global health and community outreach programmes. She has also been featured in various publications.
Dr Ndumia is also a Consultant in Breast Imaging at The Aga Khan University Hospital, Nairobi. Read more about her HERE
