The Research Office​ offers a range of intramural funding opportunities to support faculty research, encourage collaboration, and enhance research capacity across the institution.


Last Mile Travel Awa​​​​​rds

This initiative promotes international and national collaboration by enabling AKU faculty to travel and engage with researchers at other institutions. Faculty can meet in person to strengthen extramural grant plans and foster research partnerships that enhance AKU's global reach.

Rounds are announced annually in June.


Research Initiative for Scholars Excellence (RISE) Programme

This programme empowers early-career researchers at AKU with extensive training in grant writing, research methodology, leadership development, and academic career advancement. It equips them to create competitive research proposals and grow as independent researchers.

Rounds are announced annually in May.


Guiding Research and Nurturing Talent (GRANT) Writers

It supports each AKU entity by hiring specialized grant writers who collaborate closely with faculty, offering personalized assistance in crafting high-quality, competitive grant proposals that align with funding agency requirements.

 Announced for a period of 2 years starting 2024.


Capacity Building Awards for Grant Administrators

These awards for Grant Administrators are introduced to support their participation in professional development activities under the umbrella of grant/research administration. It covers membership to relevant associations, course fees, travel, and accommodation (if applicable) for local, virtual, or international training.

Rounds are announced annually in August.
