Rho Delta Chapter
The Rho Delta Chapter of the Sigma Theta Tau International (STTI) began its journey with the Aga Khan University’s School of Nursing (AKU-SONAM) in 1994 as an Honor Society.
In 1999, after the Honor Society’s request to STTI headquarters on upgrading its status as a chapter, rigorous assessments on the quality and impact of the initiative were undertaken by the STTI committee. Formed on July 1, 2000, and chartered on September 9, 2000, the School’s Honor Society became the 410th chapter of STTI and its first chapter in Pakistan.
Formally named the Rho Delta Chapter by the installing officer STTI and Dean and Professor, College of the Nursing, University of IOWA, Dr Melanie C. Dreher, the Chapter inducted about 131 members into this scholarly organization. Nursing leaders including Clara Pasha, the then Nursing Advisor for the Government of Pakistan; Faiz Alamzaib, the then Vice President, Pakistan Nursing Council (PNC), Illimiya Mughal, the then President of Pakistan Nursing Federation (PNF); Dr Yasmin Amarsi, the then Associate Dean, AKU-SONAM and Dr Rafat Jan were among the first inductees.

Apply for Rho Delta Chapter Fund
The Rho Delta Chapter members can apply for funding in order to attend conferences, workshops or other relevant activities.
Eligibility Criteria
Before applying for funding, please ensure that you meet the below criteria:
- Minimum of two years' membership with the Chapter
- Active participation in the Chapter's initiatives for at least one year
- Clear mention of benefits for the Chapter from the conference/workshop/other activity that you wish to attend
- Elaborate on the efforts made to get a grant from other sources
- Commitment to renewing the Chapter's membership for the next two years
If you meet the above criteria, you are requested to send in your applications to rho.delta@aku.edu. Please note that the approval for funding is based on a thorough review of the submitted applications by the Board.
