Clubs and Societies in Kenya
Our programs are designed to offer students leadership opportunities that foster self-discovery and personal development. They also provide a platform for learning and practicing effective communication skills, allowing students to apply their classroom knowledge in real-world settings. Additionally, students will gain valuable experience in teamwork, learning how to collaborate effectively and achieve set targets together.
Football Club: AKU Football Club (AKU FC)'s objective is to support, develop, improve, and promote football in The Aga Khan University. All students at AKU are eligible to be part of this club.
Book Club: Foster a love of reading among its members, provide a forum for open and respectful discussion of chosen books and encourage active listening and intellectual exchange.
Journalism Club: The purpose of the club is to create a dynamic platform that fosters the exchange of ideas, enhances students' media communication proficiency, and serves as the official channel for celebrating our school's achievements and milestones.
Music Club: The purpose of the Music Club is to foster a vibrant community of music enthusiasts, including students, faculty, and staff, who share a passion for music in its various forms and expressions.
Christian Fellowship: The fellowship welcomes all AKU students to membership, embracing those from various Christian denominations and those interested in the Christian faith. The Aga Khan University Christian Fellowship (AKUCF) celebrates the rich tapestry of diversity within the university, promoting an environment where all members are respected and valued.
Society of Visual Arts: This club is officially known as the Aga Khan University Society of Visual Arts, however, the officially accepted abbreviation is AKUSoVA. This society’s focus is to provide a space for students to express and practice any form of visual art.
Debate Society: Promote critical thinking, public speaking skills, and civil discourse among students through the art of debate but even further to create meaningful discussions and conversations around globally relevant and medically relevant topics.
Society for Promotion of Innovation in Education (SPIE AKU Nairobi): Dedicated to fostering a dynamic environment that encourages exploration, application, and advancement of educational innovation. SPIE endeavors to promote interdisciplinary collaboration and exploration across various educational domains, including but not limited to technology, research methodologies, community engagement, and pedagogical practices.
Serein Society: "Serein" refers to a specific meteorological phenomenon where fine rain falls from a clear sky during the early hours of the morning, typically just before dawn. This unique weather occurrence often creates a serene and tranquil atmosphere, with the raindrops shimmering in the soft light. The society’s purpose is to evoke a sense of intrigue and wonder, inviting individuals to come together and enjoy fun events while appreciating the richness of diverse perspectives.
