Mathematics is a universal language that surrounds us, rather than just a subject in school. It occupies a unique position as the art of pure thought and at the same time as a universally applicable science hidden in almost all human endeavors. Yet, many teachers are not able to convey this message to their students and they often present mathematics as merely a body of abstract thoughts. Linking school mathematics to everyday life makes the subject more relatable for teachers and students.
