Research
Research at AKU-IED is underpinned by the twin passion for understanding and improving educational practices and policies in Pakistan and beyond. It is part of the very fabric of the Institute’s approach to teaching and learning.
Our faculty and student research profile ranges from classroom focused action research to large scale nationwide studies. In line with the broader university orientation towards equity and access, our research has a strong emphasis on marginalized and underprivileged communities. Our work in climate education, early childhood, non-formal education, science and math pedagogies, and educational technologies has led to significant knowledge generation, influencing practices and policies.
AKU-IED also serves as a platform for comprehensive research dialogue and public engagement on pressing educational challenges. In addition to informing our own teaching, our research findings have a demonstrable record of contributing to school practices, from classrooms to leadership, as well as to policies, including the Teaching License Policy Sindh & National Education Policy 2009.
Our numerically small faculty has produced over 380 publications and 160 research projects, funded by national and international organisations.
