Our​ Team​​

Our team at the Counselling Services and Wellness Office at Aga Khan University is comprised of a group of qualifed professionals dedicated to promoting the mental, emotional and overall wellbeing of our student community and PGME trainees in Pakistan.

Hadia Pasha
Director

Hadia is a clinical psychologist who holds a PhD in Clinical Psychology from the University of Karachi. She is a Gold Medallist for her Masters degree in Clinical Psychology and has more than twenty-five years of experience in mental health. She has pioneered programmes at AKU for the counselling and psychological wellness of students and PGME trainees. Her tailored workshops and one-on-one counselling sessions are immensely popular among the students.

Hadia is the author of several articles and is invited regularly for sessions on counselling and psychology within and outside AKU. She has lectured at AKU’s School of Nursing and Midwifery and the Arab Foundation College and has held consultant clinics at Liaquat National Hospital and the Aga Khan Welfare Board. 

When she is not working, Hadia loves to read health related content and connect with nature and animals. She enjoys solving online puzzles and playing indoor and outdoor sports especially badminton​, table-tennis and swimming.

Rabeea Saleem
Student Counsellor

Rabeea is a clinical psychologist currently completing her MPhil in Clinical Psychology from IPP, Bahria University. She has also completed a certification from Harvard Extension School in Developmental Psychopathology and certified Clinical Trauma Specialist-A (CCTSA) Trauma and Addiction from Arizona Trauma Institute.

She has previously worked as a clinical psychologist at Dow University Health Sciences for more than a year. She is a Rehab Engagement Executive at The Recovery House and a Wellness Program Coordinator at Taskeen. She also works as a freelance journalist advocating for mental health in international publications like Readers Digest, Esquire, VICE and The National UAE.​

Rabeea is a sports enthusiast and avid reader, particularly literary fiction and historical biographies. In her spare time, she plays badminton and solves crosswords.​​​​​​

Syed Saheer Jawaid

Shaheer Jawaid is a seasoned psychologist specializing in trauma and addiction. With certifications as a Clinical Trauma Specialist for individuals, families, and addiction from Arizona Trauma institute, as well as being a certified EMDR Practitioner, Shaheer brings extensive expertise to his practice. With five years of experience, Shaheer is dedicated to helping clients navigate the path to healing and transformation. 

His compassionate approach and evidence-based therapies make him a trusted professional in the field.

Ayesha Uquaily
Consultant Psychiatrist, AKUH; Student Psychiatrist

Ayesha earned her MRC Psych from the UK and her MBBS from Dow Medical College. She is an experienced psychiatrist with 19 years of post-graduate experience. She is a member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists in England, the Irish Medical Council in Ireland, and the Pakistan Medical Commission.

Ayesha is a specialist general adult psychiatrist specialising in urgent care, diagnosis and psychiatric treatment of short and long-term mental health conditions. She has experience treating young adults and a deep understanding of different cultures across Asia and Europe. 

Ayesha is passionate about her profession, finding joy and fulfilment in helping her patients. She spends time with her friends, exploring different cuisines and travelling in her free time.

Marium Mansoor

Dr. Marium Mansoor, a psychiatrist with a wealth of experience and expertise in the field. Dr. Mansoor earned her MBBS from Dow University of Health Sciences in 2014 before pursuing further specialization. She is a proud recipient of the MRCPsych from the Royal College of Psychiatrists, UK, and the FCPS from the College of Physicians & Surgeons, Pakistan, both achieved in 2020. With her dedication to advancing mental health care.

Dr. Mansoor is committed to providing compassionate and comprehensive treatment to her patients, integrating her extensive knowledge and skills to promote holistic well-being.


Jawed Akbar Dars

Dr. Jawed Akbar Dars, an esteemed Associate Professor of Psychiatry at JSMU/NICH and lecturer at AKUH Department of Psychiatry. Dr. Dars serves as the Chapter Chief for Sindh within the Pakistan Psychiatric Society. With a wealth of experience and expertise, he is dedicated to advancing the field of psychiatry, both through his clinical practice and his commitment to education and research. 

Dr. Dars brings a compassionate approach to patient care, striving to enhance mental health services and support across communities in Pakistan.

Aamir Dharani

Aamir, a dedicated administrative professional with a Bachelor’s degree in Arts from Allama Iqbal Open University, Karachi, and currently pursuing a Masters in Economics from the same institution. Aamir brings a wealth of experience to the Counselling Services and Wellness Office, having served as a Senior Assistant at QTL_net for two years and as an Administrative Assistant at The Aga Khan Hospital for Women, Karimabad, for seven years. 

With his strong organizational skills and commitment to excellence, Aamir plays a vital role in ensuring efficient operations and support within the office.​

Talha Nadeem
Communications Specialist

Talha holds a Degree in English with a minor in Psychology from the City University of New York – Baruch College with a Diploma in Digital Media & Design. He has 6+ years of communication experience in both the corporate and non-profit sectors in areas such as project management, content development, and graphic design.​ His speciality lies in promoting events and campaigns on digital platforms.  ​

At AKU, Talha assists students and departments with their communications initiatives and runs all communications for projects and programmes for Student Affairs and Services. ​​​​​
