Wellness Events, Sessions and Workshops

Events are organized around important mental health days to promote awareness and engage students in taking the initiative for their wellness. Maintaining a student-centred approach, these activities are organized in collaboration with AKU student mental health representatives.

World Mental Health Day

Our most significant program is World Mental Health Day which is celebrated on October 10 each year. While the awareness campaign generally spans the whole week, our flagship event is Walk-a-Cause, in which AKU students, staff and faculty get together to uphold their commitment to promoting mental health on campus.

In the past, other activities as part of this celebration include panel sessions, artistic expressions on dealing with mental health and the need to destigmatise it.

Sessions and Workshops

Our psychoeducational sessions and skill-building workshops are specifically catered to meet students' and medical trainees' developmental needs and issues.

These sessions are designed to be engaging and interactive and include a wide range of topics, such as:

  • self-esteem and adjustment issues
  • communication skills and conflict resolution
  • handling stress and difficult emotions, including exam anxiety
  • developing healthy relationships
  • managing time and work-life balance
  • cultivating resilience and avoiding burnout
