The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at Aga Khan University, in collaboration with the D43 Fogarty International Centre - NIH USA, organized Symposium on “Integrated Vector Borne Disease Research Capacity Building”.

This event is a key component of the D43 Grant on Integrated Research Training on Vector Borne Diseases in Pakistan, led by Professor & Chair Dr. Erum Khan. Zahida Azizullah serves as the focal person coordinating and organizing all workshops and training initiatives under this grant.

The symposium brought together renowned experts in the field to share their knowledge and insights on capacity-building training and a one-health approach to Vector Borne Disease research. Following the main event, a series of focused workshops delved into key aspects of VBD research training. These workshops covered a wide range of topics, including Addressing research priorities in VBD Research, Mathematical Models in Understanding Epidemiology, Implementation Science in VBD control, Sero-surveillance and Immune Marker studies & Vector Surveillance Research Training. These workshops will provide invaluable opportunities for researchers working on VBDs to enhance their skills and apply their learning to future research endeavors.
