​​First TWG Meeting on Patient Safety and Quality Care

The Ministry of National Health Services Regulations and Coordination ​(MoNHSR&C​), in collaboration with WHO, organized a groundbreaking event in Islamabad marking the first technical working group meeting dedicated to patient safety and quality care. 45 participants from Provincial Health Departments, Healthcare Commissions, Directors of Quality & Patient Safety Departments, Academia, Drug Regulatory Authority Pakistan, Pakistan Medical and Dental Council, Pakistan Nursing Council, College of Physician Surgeon Pakistan, and private sectors graced the occasion including our very own Dr Asad Latif (Director, CPS ) and Dr Fozia Asif (Associate Director, CPS).

During the event, an impactful inaugural speech was delivered by Dr Palitha Mahipala, Head of Mission, WHO Pakistan, emphasizing the importance of fostering a culture of safety. He also stressed the need for transparent reporting, learning from mistakes and continually improving our systems. Dr Mahiapala also highlighted the significance of engaging patients and their families, leading to enhanced patient satisfaction and improved health outcomes.

Dr Baseer Achakzai, Director of General Health at MoNHSR&C also expressed his sentiments during his inaugural remarks where he emphasized cultivating and promoting a safety culture.

This remarkable event marks a pivotal moment in the journey towards improved patient safety and quality care by uniting the key stakeholders in a shared vision of enhancing patient safety within the healthcare systems.
