​Manuscript Writing: Hands-on training on developing a manuscript

A Virtual Workshop

The Aga Khan University is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education. The ACCME designates 30.0 AMA PRA category 1 credit to this live educational activity.​

This workshop is planned for those who are interested in writing a manuscript for publishing their work in peer-reviewed journals. If you have a term paper, project report, PhD/graduate dissertation, or currently are at different stages of your academic journey or career and want to publish your work, this workshop is particularly for you. The purpose of this workshop is to acquaint you with writing the different sections of a manuscript, submitting and successfully publishing the manuscript. ​

Please note: Potential participants are expected to submit a 250 words abstract related to the manuscript that th​ey wish to develop during the course.​​

This workshop will address the multiple steps required in writing original articles with the aim of providing the reader with the necessary tools to prepare, submit and successfully publish a manuscript. ​

  • Epidemiological study designs and their implications for writing
  • Effective literature search and critical appraisal of the literature 
  • Succinct writing of different sections of a manuscript
  • Good ethics and publication guidelines 
  • Manuscript submission and review process
  • Expert feedback on the manuscript

This workshop will be offered online.
The workshop follows a scientific approach, facilitated through lectures, structured around presentations, discussions, hands-on practice, and assignments.​

The medium of instruction for the course is English. Participants are expected to be proficient to comprehend, read, and write in the English language.​​

  • Medical and Allied Health Science Professionals 
  • Medical students, residents, and faculty from within and outside AKU
  • Researchers interested in Public Health as well as Clinically oriented research
  • NGO representatives with technical responsibilities for research, audit and survey report writing
  • Individuals with technical and administrative responsibilities in government and other organistions
  • Postgraduate Public Health and other health sciences discipline students
  • Professionals/academic health science educators involved in teaching​

This eight-day workshop will be offered from June 14-23, 2021, (both days inclusive). Classes will be held from 8:30 am-1:00 pm

PKR 10,000+SST@5% PKR 500 (USD 95+SST USD 5 for International Participants).  

Mode of payment will be communicated to selected participants.
